The Cricket Club held their Annual Dinner and Trophy presentation on Saturday 6 February 2010, when 36 members and partners enjoyed an excellent meal at The Plough, Wigglesworth.
Following the meal the captain, Alastair Walton, gave a resume of the 2009 season, which was characterised by rather disappointing results, but nonetheless plenty of entertaining cricket, all played in a good spirit.
The trophies were presented by chairman, Ian Johnson, as follows:
Bowling Trophy - Phil Metcalfe
Batting Trophy - Chris Wallbank
Fielding Prize - James Holgate
Captain's Prize - Dale Denham
Trueman Trophy - James Holgate
The Trueman Trophy was presented for the first time this year, after the generous donation of the pewter maquette of Fred Trueman by his widow, Veronica. The wooden base for the trophy was made by Wigglesworth joiner Phil Naylor, who had generously donated his time and skill for this. The trophy is to be presented each year for the best individual performance in a single match during the season.
Pre-season nets have been booked for Fridays 16 & 23 April, 7.30pm-9.30pm at the Sports Hall of Giggleswick School.
