New Recycling and Refuse Collections: Don't forget that the new recycling and refuse collections now apply. Green and Blue collection day is now Friday for most of the village, although parts of the lower end of the village are collected on Tuesday. Full details are awaited from Craven DC and will be published here.
Cricket Club Net Practice: Pre-season nets have been booked for Fridays 16 and 23 April, from 7.30pm in the Sports Hall of Giggleswick School.
Gardenmakers announces brunch menu: Gardenmakers has announced that it is now offering a brunch menu every day until 11.15am, in addition to its regular menu. There are also a series of themed evenings planned, details of which are listed in the diary section of this site.
Parish Council Election details available: There will be Elections for the Parish Council on Thursday, 6 May. As a number of Councillors are standing down, information has been provided about serving as a Councillor for anyone interested. Wigglesworth Polling Station to be at The Plough: Due to the refurbishment work at the Old School, Craven DC have announced that the Polling Station for Wigglesworth (and Halton West) will be located in The Plough at Wigglesworth. All local residents on the Electoral Roll have received detailed notification about this.
Old School update presentation: Over 40 villagers attended a presentation providing the most up to date information and plans about the Old School project. More information is available on the Old School section of the site - just click on this Clark's Old School link. Work is scheduled to begin in March, and updates and photographs will be posted on the website as work progresses.
Cricket Club Statistics now online: The Cricket Club's 2009 statistics for bowling, batting and fielding, as well as historic averages, are now online at the Cricket Club's pages, which can be reached by clicking on this Cricket Club link.
Cricket Club Annual Dinner: The Cricket Club held its Annual Dinner and Trophy presentation recently. A report of the proceedings is available on the Cricket Club's pages, which can be reached by clicking on this Cricket Club link.
Arrangements following Village Shop closure: Following the closure of the village shop it is hoped that regular Post Office facilities will be available through an outreach programme from March. Newspapers and magazines can be ordered through Wayne Harding at Hellifield. Milk deliveries can be ordered through Chris Eccleston.

Webmaster sought: A new webmaster is being sought to maintain the village website. The job entails a little bit of time each week to update information. If you are interested, please email the current webmaster for more details.
Plough proves popular: The waiting has all been worthwhile, with the refurbished Plough now open. The interior has completely changed, and there is a wide-ranging, well priced menu, with everything from sandwiches to quality evening meals. Make sure you try it out!
Another great Village Show: The Village Show was again a great success, with a wide range of classes and a very high standard of entries. Full results and a selection of pictures of the Show will be posted shortly.
100 Club draw made: The December draw - worth £100! - for the Old School 100 Club took place recently, and was won by C. Graham. There are still spaces available if you want to support the Old School project. More information is available from the Post Office, or by emailing the webmaster.

Bus Services: The timetable for the B1 service to Settle and Clitheroe will be posted here shortly.
In addition, residents can utilise the Little Red Bus service, which operates a demand responsive pre-bookable service covering the Settle area on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 9.30am - 11.30am and 1.00pm - 2.30pm. Settle Middle School: The Settle area operates a three tier system of state schooling, and children go to Settle Middle School from Year 6 (age 10) to Year 8. More details about the school are available on its website:

Settle College: At 13 children transfer to Settle College, which takes children up to GCSE level. Many students then stay on in the Sixth Form. The College has specialist technology status. More details about the College are available on its website:

Giggleswick School: The local area is also served by the established and well-known Giggleswick School, one of the country's oldest independent schools. It takes pupils from age 3 to 18, either as boarders or day pupils. For more information see the School's website:

Cricket: Rathmell and Wigglesworth Cricket Club play matches each week during the Summer. New members are always welcome.
2009's fixture list is now available, along with reports and statistics for the 2008 season, on the club pages.

Pub Quiz Team: The village supports a pub quiz team that plays in the Settle and District League on Monday nights in the Winter at the Boar's Head in Long Preston. Match details are posted in the diary section of the website; results and details of the league table and the knockout competition can be seen by clicking here
Rotary International: The Rotary Club of Settle meets on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm in The Royal Oak in Settle. For more details click on this Settle Rotary Club link.
3 Peaks Folk Club This relaxed folk club meets on the third Saturday of each month at 8.30pm at Settle Social Club. All are welcome to enjoy or to join in.

Ribble Banks Parish Council: The Parish Council now has its own page on the website. Click on this Parish Council link to jump to that page.
Craven District Council: Craven District is the local council for Wigglesworth. Based in Skipton, but with an office in Settle, it provides the local tier of services.

North Yorkshire County Council: Wigglesworth sits within the old West Riding, and comes under North Yorkshire County Council. The County Council provides a further tier of services, including Education.

However...Wigglesworth is in the unusual situation of having part of the community of Tosside fall within the parish boundary (including Tosside's Community Hall). The county boundary runs through the middle of Tosside with the result that part of Tosside is not only (technically) in Wigglesworth, but also in North Yorkshire, whilst the rest of Tosside is in Tosside and Lancashire!

Wigglesworth is also on the edge of the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - some 300 square miles of diverse landscapes of heather moorland and blanket bog. It is an exceptionally important habitat for upland birds, including the hen harrier. Stocks Reservoir and Gisburn Forest, just the other side of Tosside, provide great oppportunites for bird-watching, mountain biking, riding and walking. Drystone Radio: This is a community radio station that broadcasts on both the internet and on 106.9 FM, providing open access to anyone from the local community who is interested in radio programming or production.
