  1. The minutes of the last meeting, April 5th 2006, were read, approved and signed.

  1. Matters arising:  a) It was reported that Pikebar required change of use planning permission to store the earthmoving equipment that was currently on site.  Craven District Council confirmed that permission would not be granted and they are taking the necessary steps to have the equipment removed.   b) The white lines due to be painted at Town End have been put on hold as BT are due to dig up the road during the summer.   c) The road at Hollowgill is due to be patched in the next 6 – 8 weeks.

  1. Planning applications:  There were no comments on the resubmission    of plans to convert New Laithe at Todmanhaw, nor on plans to build an extra garage at The Plough Inn.  The plans to demolish the existing office block and build a four bedroom detached house at Willowbeck invoked a healthy debate.  Historically all plans for construction of a dwelling at Willowbeck have been opposed by the meeting.  The owner of the site told the meeting that there was a need to have someone permanently residing on site to handle the customers of the caravan site and those of the proposed 3 log cabins.  Various parishioners were in favour of the proposal on the basis that there would be an improvement on the visual impact of the whole site which would benefit the village.  At the end of the discussion a show of hands was taken the result was 12 in favour of the plans, 3 against with 1 abstention.

  1. Any other business:  Phil Raper told the meeting of the progress that has been made with the plans to extend and refurbish Clarke’s Old School.  The provision of child care, adult learning and community use were some of the aims.  A fund raising consultant has been employed, with the aid of money from Craven District Council, to obtain grants necessary to complete the project.  Steve Amphlett raised possibility of road name signs being erected in the village.  He has been asked directions by various people and felt it would be beneficial to have some signs, and would be willing to sponsor one of them if need be.  The clerk will check with Highways to see what needs to be done.

There being no further business the meeting was closed at 8.12 pm
