Wigglesworth Parish Meetings

Minutes of Wigglesworth Parish Meeting held on July 4th 2005

The Meeting opened at 7.30pm

Present: Mr M Dean (Chair), Mr B Procter, Mr B Newhouse, Mr and Mrs P Naylor, Mrs B Houghton, Mr S Rushton

Apologies: Mr and Mrs Wales, Mrs D Dean, Rev and Mrs W Lister, Mrs A Dinsdale, Mr and Mrs Shepherd

It was agreed that, due to the absence of the Clerk, the Chair would take the Minutes of the Meeting.

1.    The Minutes of the previous meeting, held on 4 April, 2005, were read and agreed, with the one amendment that Mr B Procter’s name should have appeared under those apologising rather than those attending.

2.    Matters Arising:    It was reported that new white lining would take place at Jack Bridge, at the Town End corner and at the road junction by The Plough. It was hoped this would improve traffic understanding of these locations;
    Mrs B Houghton reported, in respect of Paythorne Road End, that the transfer of the land on the west side of the junction is still to be finalised by the owner’s agent. NYCC are chasing this as contractors are ready to begin the work;
    The hedge around the junction signs for Paythorne Road End would be clipped to ensure the sign is more visible to traffic;
    In response to a question from the floor, it was reported that no planning applications had to date been received in respect of The Plough Inn.

3.    Correspondence:    Details of reports and information received were announced. These were available after the meeting.

4.    Planning Applications:    Two applications had been received. There were no observations made by the meeting on the first, for Mr and Mrs Wright, at Cow Bridge Farm. In respect of the second, for Mr and Mrs Caton, at Cow Bridge Farm, it was felt that due to the position of the property, it was important that the planning authority be asked to ensure that the stone and the roof slates match the existing styles and colours to maintain a correct overall feel.

5.    Any Other Business:    It was reported that the Hog Roast had raised over £3,500 for Rathmell School with donations also being made to Young Farmers and the Air Ambulance;
    It was noted that the direction sign opposite the garage needed relettering, and the lack of clarity meant that traffic was confused at the junction by the Plough Inn. Mr Dean said he would check the sign to see if there was raised lettering that could be easily repainted.

There was no other business and the Meeting closed at 8.05pm.
